The Macallan Terra: an absolute work of art; the Terra is masterfully balanced with lots of rich and complex notes.

content description

The brand new Macallan Quest Collection replaced the distillery's older 1824 Collection, which has been a mainstay in Global Travel Retail for the past 10 years. The new Collection consists of four no age statement single malt expressions (Quest, Lumina, Terra and Enigma) and has been available since January 2018 and is exclusive to travel retail (or in certain online whisky stores).

The Macallan Terra is a no age statement single malt matured in first-fill American and European ex-sherry casks. This expression is chill filtered and bottled at 43.8% ABV with no artificial colouring added. The average price for this bottle is around $200.

On the nose: very pleasant! Sweet and fruity with notes of buttery French pastries, orange chocolate, Christmas cake and espresso. In the back you'll get subtle notes of nuttiness (mostly walnuts and hazelnuts).

On the palate: the sweetness continues with milk chocolate, mixed berry jam, dried apricots, caramel and molasses.

Finish: long with notes of cinnamon cake, nutmeg and coffee.

Overall: a superb single malt from The Macallan. The Terra is masterfully balanced with lots of rich and complex notes.
