Review: The Glendronach Peated

The Glendronach Peated: a very pleasant whisky. The peat is very subtle and imparts this expression with light earthy/vegetative notes.

The Glendronach Peated
content description

GlenDronach Peated is the first ever peated expression in the GlenDronach range! This expression was initially matured in bourbon casks before being transferred over to Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks. The GlenDronach Peated is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV with no artificial colouring added. The average price of this bottle is around $50.

On the nose: we were expecting this to be a peat bomb but it's surprisingly fresh and fruity. You'll get citrus fruits, honey, vanilla, and light smokiness.

On the palate: a wonderful texture and mouth feel. The smoke is more present on the palate but can still be considered light. In the back there's moss, malt, honey, black tea, cinnamon and dried fruits.

Finish: medium length with malt notes and a subtle smokiness.

Overall: a very pleasant whisky. The peat is very subtle and imparts this expression with light earthy/vegetative notes that work well with the fruitiness and sweetness of the sherry casks.
