content description

The Glenglassaugh distillery launched their Wood Finishes series in late 2017, marking the first time they've ever released cask-finished expressions. The Glenglassaugh Pedro Ximenéz (PX) Sherry Wood Finish is first matured in first-fill ex-bourbon casks before being moved over to Pedro Ximenéz casks for up to two years. This expression is non-chill filtered and bottled at 46% ABV with no artificial colouring added. The average price for this bottle is around $65.

On the nose: classic PX cask notes! Dark chocolate, dark dried fruits (dates, figs, plums, raisins), strawberry jam, toffee, sponge cake, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey.

On the palate: milk chocolate, strawberry jam, dates, molasses, spices (nutmeg, cinnamon, cumin, ginger), sponge cake and fruitiness (apricot, cherries, plums)

Finish: Long with toffee and spiciness.

Overall: a wonderful single malt from Glenglassaugh. Complex, robust and full of flavour, this is a great value-for-money single malt whisky.
