Oban Little Bay
content description

The Oban Little Bay was previously part of Oban's travel retail offering, but has now graduated to the core range as a 70cl bottling. Master Blenders Dr. Matthew Crow and Dr. Craig Wilson use whisky matured in refill American oak hogsheads, European oak Sherry casks and refill casks with new ends for this expression before allowing the resultant single malt whisky to marry in small oak casks. This expression is chill filtered, bottled at 43% ABV and contains artificial colouring. The average price for this bottle is around $60.

On the nose: clean, bright fruit, with aromas of peach, orange peel and a touch of red berries. Some pleasing oatmeal-biscuit notes, too, along with honey and cherry.

On the palate: fuller on the palate, with cinnamon and clove mingling with rich, honeyed fruit – apricot, apple and orange – and brioche. A sprinkling of freshly cracked black pepper perks up the palate, too, along with a hint of barrel char.

Finish: Long with citrus fruit and spices.

Overall: silky smooth and complex. An exceptional single malt from Oban.
